So after much work, discussion and debate we are stoked to inform you that it's time to update your bookmarks. We have shed our .blogspot.com for a sleeker, shorter and cooler .ca

As we enter our fourth month of posting, we are stoked to have our own little chunk of the internet to call our own. Whoisfreddy.ca marks a new chapter for us, as all four of us continue to progress and face different challenges. We decided to keep our blog-style format as it seems to be all the rage across the interwebs these days. In addition, we've improved the organizational aspects of the site, and added some flashy new stuff in the banner on top and on the left hand side. Hopefully you are as stoked as we are about all this!

To help with the promotion side of things we have had new die-cut stickers made. All four of us have a batch and if you'd like one we'd be stoked to have one taken off our hands for a small fee that will help with the website fees. They come in several sizes and colors and not only raise your sex appeal, but help your tre flips too!

Sooner rather than later we hope to have some t-shirts made, so keep reminding the four of us to do that too!

I know its been like two weeks since I've updated but I'm posting now, and its not just a single clip, its a montage. So that kind of makes up for it. I'm working decent hours now so I'll be out skating more often which is rad. The montage I'm posting has a combo of kimble and moncton skatepark footage. So the blog hasn't been updated in a lil while but Don't Worry, we have been primarily focusing on developing the site so expect something new soon!

Anyways..I had the opportunity to take a skate trip down to P.E.I. for a skate trip/competition last Saturday. Joel drove Stefan Curtis, D.J. Burns, Skippy and myself down for the day and despite the 8 hours of driving it was an awesome time.

Kurtis got his trick fast, and we still had some daylight to work with so I suggested we head back to the spot I was writing about in this post. This time we went prepared, prepared our gear next door, and then walked over. Kurtis got the ollie first try, and just as he was lining up for a second shoot we were kicked out. Mission accomplished.

I havn't been out filming that much lately, but I've been at NYC way too much. The reason being is that I live pretty close and it's very easy to just go there and be able to skate all day hassle free. I still haven't been getting out to skate that much. The park is far to skate to, there isn't really anything to skate around where I live let alone in Fredericton. Its too bad we don't have more spots, more specifically good spots that provide different obstacles like ledges/stairs.

I did manage to get out with Lebel the other day and he got this trick (posted below). We also went into a shoppers drug mart where he said "look theres my mom". Knowing he was joking I continued to walk and all I heard was lebel yelling. "hey mom!" the lady turned around and I laughed because the woman actually turned around when he yelled "hey mom!". Unfortunately the joke was on me because it actually was his mom. Live and learn with Lebel I guess.

Back In Business

As you have probably noticed, I haven't posted in a long time. My camera was in rough condition so I sent it into the shop to get it repaired. I finally got it back and I have been getting lots of footage (glitch free!).

Tom Bateman and myself have been checking this set out for a while and its finally skateable. We took a few shred heads up and they managed to get a few ollies down it. Just for the record, this set is much longer than it looks.

Keep Yo Eyes Open

The other night Kurtis, Chris and I went to shoot a spot we've had our eyes on for about a month. Just as I was starting to unpack my gear, a faithful employee of the call centre where we were planning to skate imediatly came over and warned us about the dangers of hitting cars 40 feet away, doing damage to the pavement, harming the wildlife, etc. After several attempts to reason with him he informed us that the building security, police, SWAT, CIA and Air Force had been called in to remove us. As we left I spotted a bunch of cinder blocks lying in the parking lot. We quicky rushed the conctrete into the car and literally took it to a bank spot next door and had a productive sesh, gettting these two photos as well as the paddleboat one I posted earlier. I think the key to staying productive is just keeping your mind clear and being prepared to find alternatives. That being said, I plan to get that intial shot asap.

Wub Tour 08

I had something to post today, but instead I'm going to post the Wub Tour 08 video. Basically the Wub Tour is a tour that multiple people from around New Brunswick and Nova Scotia go on each summer usually from the first of August to the 15th of August. They start in halifax and work their way up through NS then they go through NB. The whole thing was started by Julien Strasfeld and Sylvain Theriault.

The Wub Tour 08 video isn't just tour footage though. Its all their footage plus what they got during the Wub Tour 2008. If you haven't seen the first one yet (the Wub Tour 2007) then I suggest you watch it first. There are tour parts as well as actual parts that people have. Here are the links:

Not much has been going down lately. Just chillin and skating as of lately. Josh Clark has been in town lately. He's leaving soon, but if you see him around then give him props. If you don't understand why then just check him out in the new SBC. He just got back from Barcelona and he's been killing it.

One question for everyone who skates in Fredericton. Why is no one skating at kimble!? The weather has been amazing lately and no one has been at the park. I know NYC is open and stuff but why skate inside when you can skate outside? It just doesn't make sense.

Hopefully I see you guys out at the park but for now I'll just leave you with this clip of DJ Burns, a fellow bro from Moncton who just moved to Fredericton, doing a nice back tail shove on the high ledge. With my lens being scratched I e-mailed century to see what could be done with my MK1. I got this e-mail back:

I was sorry to here that you have a damaged .3X Ultra Fisheye adapter lens. Unfortunately, there is only one way to repair a
scratched element. We repair scratched or marked lenses by replacing the element on the lens we are working with. No other solution is acceptable in regard to quality or cost to accomplish this task.

The cost to replace the front element on your adapter is $295.00 for the part and $90.00 labor to install it, plus insured return shipping expense, and sales tax on the part if applicable. When you can, why don't you send us your lens for a no-charge estimate, then you would know everything that could be wrong with your equipment and the exact cost to repair your lens and time it would take. Most routine repairs are handled in our facility in 8 to 10 work days after we receive approval to proceed.

Please be advised that we do no work until we have your approval to begin repairs.

As we get closer to summer the two indoor parks in the area are starting to open for summer.

Out in Oromocto, the Kings Arrow indoor park is open as of Monday. It's smaller, but still very worth the trip out to Oro. Their official grand opening is this Saturday, with a Barbeque and a Skate Competition, going from 4-8PM. More info can be found at

Don't let the title of this post fool you. This has been a brutal week for a number of reasons. The main reason would be the fact that I managed to drop my external hard drive. This made the hard drive make cool funny noises and no longer allowed me to access any of the data that was on it. The data I'm referring to would be a year's worth of filming. The footage I had for Back To Square One that Jeff Pineau does not have is now gone.

That being said, I obviously will not be doing so well in the update department. For now I'd like to give you a little piece of gold though. Peter Wellband, Dave Fox, and myself made a nice little montage about a year and a half ago. It was made to be just like a lot of the videos you can find on youtube these days. And it was all filmed with my Macbook.

Summer is finally here!

I hope everyone is out skating a lot and getting beater tans since the weather has been so nice lately.

I'm going to have a nice little update from Sackville for you guys within the next week or two, and on top of that, I'm currently going into my second year of filming for my and Jeff Pineau's video called Back To Square One, so I'm finding it kind of hard balancing blog posts and holding on to footy. But expect that video this winter!

I came back to the homestead here in Sackville, NB for the week. I came home all stoked to skate only to arrive at the skatepark where there was only the smallest manual pad you have ever seen. None of the stuff has been put into the park which leaves me with nothing to skate for the week.

So if anyone from Sackville's city council ends up reading this by mere chance please do the town a favor and put that stuff back in the paved area in which the skateboarding obstacles belong. I went with two other guys to the storage place where they just keep the skatepark things outside all winter to see if I could cart any of the stuff over in my car but everything was too heavy and too big to fit.

Lucky for you guys there were some sweet bikers there that provided you with todays update.

Finals are done for me now as I finished my last exam Tuesday night. Now its time to relax a bit, visit the parents, chill at home for a bit and hit up BBQ season. I'm not gonna lie, I kind of copped out of this weeks update. If you're from Fredericton or now, Moncton, then you may know this guy:

Boardertech presents “Battle Royal” at the park

I just got word that Boardertech will be putting on a series of games of S.K.A.T.E at the Moncton skate park. Games will be starting on May 3rd, and will be held each Saturday at 1pm until the final game held on July 1st at the Canada Day Competition.

Registration is free and there will be prizes given to every winner throughout the series and a large package for the final winner. Competitors must sign up in store ASAP, because games will be starting on the first Saturday of May. First games will be announced next week, and all second round games will be announced early the following week.

Spots are limited so it’s first come first serve, be sure to check for updates and videos at Boardertech.com. (Site going live soon)

So head to Moncton to have a good time and win some free stuff!!

I guess I'm filling in for Chris Ralph since he sent his camera in to get fixed and he doesn't have any footy saved since he hasn't had his vx1000 for too long.

As you guys know, I went to Moncton during Easter weekend and skated there. I had a bunch of random footage I'll never use anywhere else so I thought I would jumble it all together for a nice one minute montage for you to watch. So enjoy this one minute at Moncton Skate Park.

Ok folks, we've got news. Monark Skateboards has been kind enough to donate a brand new Monark deck as well as an (almost) lifetime supply of DZZ Nuts hardware. In addition to that, some miracle juice known as Red Bull will be added to the prize pack. We've decided that we are going to set up a little photo contest for the goodies.

Now that the snow is all but gone, the days are getting longer and the concrete is dry, we'd like to see some sort of skateboarding somewhere in the image, but other than that there are no requirements. You can shoot it with your Mom's camera, sister's webcam, your cellphone, whatever you can get your hands on. We are going to give you a couple weeks to do this, starting today, with the deadline being Monday, May the 4th.

In the event that more than one of you enters, we will pick a winner on the following guidelines;
-skateboarding skill
-creativity (creativity in the spot, in the way you are skating it)

Once you have completed this mission, you can send a digital copy to whoisfreddy@gmail.com and/or give a physical copy to any of the four of us.

Josh Palmer drove a couple of us to Saint John on Thursday to skate the park there. Unfortunately, it was misty and the whole park was wet except for the mini ramp and the other side of the bridge, which is weird because you would think that under the bridge would be the dry part. It was totally the opposite though.

Either way, we did what we could with the area we had and filmed a little bit so I put it together in this little montage.

So I'm probably slacking the most out of the four of us. There's only two more weeks until school is done and then things will pick up! Until then I'll try to post some stuff you may not have seen. This is Stef Curtis, summer 2007 I'm pretty sure.

Also, word on street is that there is a contest this Saturday at the new skatepark in Saint John. As far as I know the City is putting it on It's teams of 4 skaters with cash prizes for best team and MVP skater. No word on times/entry fee or even if the rain is gonna cancel it though.

Shot this last fall, it was supposed to get used for something that kind of fell through, and I just remembered it. This is even more gnarly that it looks and Justin lost some skin and a large amount of fabric on his beautiful sweater trying this.

First MK1 Footy

As some of you may know I bought an MK1 off of Jeff Pno around christmas time since he punched his vx then threw it at a door. Between not having a charger and school work I haven't really had time to film with it until this week. I still have to get used to how much wider it is than my previous fisheye but here's some footage I filmed earlier this week when I was skating with Mark and Kyle.

I'm currently struggling with my setup. For the longest time I didn't have a charger for my vx1000, and now my capture camera is broken. I have six or seven tapes that I've wanted to put on my computer but haven't been able to. Being a university student, I have little spending money to begin with so it looks like I'll be waiting until summer to buy a new capture cam.
